Why use a celebrant?
When it comes to a marriage, or civil union, these must initially be conducted as a legal ceremony carried out by a registrar or religious officer. Many people choose a simple, relatively inexpensive registry office formality, and then use a celebrant to create a unique ceremony and celebration at the venue of their choice. Unlike a registrar conducted wedding which must be held at a venue licensed for such events, a celebrant led event can be literally held anywhere. This very personal ceremony can also involve the couple’s family & friends in many various, and unique, ways.
The main reason many people choose a celebrant for a funeral is because they wish to have a non-religious ceremony, at a crematorium or even a recognised woodland location, of which there are currently at least 6 in Devon & Cornwall.
A baby-naming ceremony is a non-religious event, in place of a traditional christening, that can be held anywhere to welcome a child to the world.
A vow renewal or commitment ceremony, which does not require any legal registration, can again be held anywhere a couple wishes . A celebrant can help them to have the ceremony and celebration they want.
